Quick disclaimer right up front, Simple and easy are not always the same thing. So as we talk about simple strategies to remain cheerful, you might have to work on these.
Strategy 1 – Let go of the harsh judgment on yourself and others
To do this, you have to notice first that you’re doing it. Have you noticed that you’re constantly judging?
You’re judging yourself. You’re judging your family, and you’re judging your
co-workers, you’re judging your relationships, you’re judging me. That’s
alright. I’m judging you. We can’t turn it off. It’s a part of what we do.
It’s our psychology. We are constantly judging.
What if we were to judge less harshly. You know how you’re willing to be compassionate and understanding and loving and forgiving of everyone else. Except for a few, right?
Where you’re harsh and judgmental maybe of yourself or certain people in your world. Let’s go of the harsh judgment. Choose to be compassionate. Choose to exercise forgiveness. This will change the game for you and allow you to be much more cheerful.
Can you imagine how that’s going to feel as you let go of some of
that harsh judgment?
Hey, that’s reason enough to do it right there. Besides the fact that it’s going to improve your relationships and almost everything about your life.
Strategy 2 – Serve someone
Serve!! It’s a well-known fact that when you get out of your own way, when you stop thinking about your own stuff for a little while and just connect with someone else in a way that allows you to lift and elevate and bless their life,
it helps to take you away from the problems that you’re having in your own world and you get to be more cheerful about that.
Service is a powerful, psychological strategy that allows you to connect at some really important levels with what’s really going to improve your life. It’s going to have a positive benefit on the people you serve too. That’s kind of secondary in terms of this conversation because this will help you to be more cheerful

Strategy 3 – Take care of your body
There are at least 4 things that you need to pay attention to take care of the
Equipment(body). Get enough sleep. Eat a good balanced healthy diet. Regular exercise and regular daily periods of prayer or meditation.
These 4 practices I got from Dr. Edie Halliwell at Harvard University.
He’s talking about brain maintenance. your brain is actually part of your body. And it’s the part of your body that regulates your emotions and allows you to feel cheerful.
We want to take care of our body because our brain is our body.
Some people make a distinction. They’re like, “Well, is this a physical thing or is it my brain?”
Your brain is a physical thing. It’s an organ in your body. Connect with that.
Because taking care of your body is taking care of your brain. There’s obvious other benefits for exercising and eating well in terms of how you look and… That’s maybe secondary to our conversation today.
Because we’re talking about taking care of your brain so that you can remain cheerful. Powerful strategy.
It’s simple. Remember, simple and easy aren’t the same thing. So, you might get to make some lifestyle changes in order to do this.
Strategy 4 – Surround yourself with positive people
Have you heard this common saying that you will become most like the 5 people you hang out with the most.
Make sure want to think about who you’re hanging out with, right?
Especially if those people tend to be negative or they’re focused on things that draw you down instead of lift you up in elevate you. Incur any expense that’s necessary.
Travel any distance that you have to surround yourself with positive people. This will do more toward helping you remain cheerful than almost anything else on the list. It’s powerful.
We have a social influence on each other. And you already know that you’re affected by the people that you’re hanging out with. Surround yourself with positive people.
Strategy 5 – Produce something
I think you’re gonna love this one. At least I do. Produce something. Quick little distinction here about what I’m talking about.
Almost every activity we engage in is either an activity of production or consumption. You consume, you produce. For a lot of reasons that I won’t explain in this particular Topic. Psychologically, it’s important for us to produce more than we consume.
Check it out from a financial standpoint, that’s also important. You have to be creating more value than you consume or you get into a negative flow. Negative cash flow included. Well, there’s a negative life flow as well.
In order for you to have a positive human life flow which we call happiness. You have to be producing more than you consume. That means you serve more than you’re being served. It means that you give more than you take. And the net effect of that is abundance.
Production means creating value specifically for other people. It’s not enough just to create value for yourself. Because if you create it for yourself you’re also consuming that value. To be a true producer, you create the value for other people and that will have a dual effect on you.
It creates cash flow because the more you can create value for other people, the more money is going to flow back to you as a receipt for the value that you’ve created.
The other sometimes overlooked consequence of creating more than you consume is that you get to experience the positive flow of human life. We call that happiness. It’s one of the most powerful ways I know to remain cheerful.
Strategy 6 – Garbage in, Garbage out
This goes back to some basic physics and something that you might be familiar with from the computer industry.
GI-GO. –Garbage in, garbage out.
Pay attention to the input that you’re putting into your mind.
By this, I mean the kind of music you listen to. The kind of games you play. The kind of movies you watch. What kind of media are you putting into that valuable creative space that we call your mind, and It matters.
I’ve done experiments before with groups where I’m doing trainings where I give them certain words as a prompt. And then I have them respond to certain questions. I can almost always accurately predict what their responses will be based on the input that I’ve already given them. What you put into your brain matters.
So, pay attention to and be highly selective about the kind of media that you’re putting in there.

Strategy 7 – Journaling
Journaling, This is a powerful activity that allows your brain to reflect on and remember and remind you of the things that are already great and awesome in your life.
Do some journaling. Now, here’s a couple of powerful tips on your journaling. Focus on gratitude. If you were to journal about just the things that you’re grateful for, wow! That would be phenomenal.
It changes the mental space that you’re working with in your brain and shifts the energy really that allows you to be more cheerful.
As you’re journaling, you might also record things that you’ve learned. People that you’ve met or interacted with or who have had an influence. Things that have inspired you.
This helps to put it into your long-term memory. And it serves as a resource for you as you move forward because you can always go back to that journal and reflect on the great powerful rich abundant life that you have.
And that will give you all kinds of reasons to be cheerful. Sometimes it can be hard to do simple things. Simple and easy aren’t the same thing.I hope that you’ll find that helpful.
